New type of Mexican Garcinia
« on: April 15, 2018, 09:33:29 PM »
I have found today a single tree that sets fruits of different shape, this one reminds alot the shape of Fuyu Persimmon however the size of this fruit is larger than regular Fuyu, flavor is nice like the regular type and Jumbo type, the leaves are also considerably wider than all the other types..
From left, three "Fuyu", one Sharpie, Two semi ripe Jumbo, one regular

Is the tree / fruit otherwise like a regular Luc's / Limoncillo, or are there other distinguishing properties?
Já, ég er að rækta suðrænar plöntur á Íslandi. Nei, ég er ekki klikkuð. Jæja, kannski...

As I previously mentioned same flavor as regular Luc Mexican Garcinia, so far the only ones with different taste are Sharpie and Sweetie.

Hey Raul, is the flesh to seed ratio better with these Fuyu types. Are there more or larger seeds?

Thanks for the post Raul.  Interesting to see the different types.  Is the Fuyu prolific?

Hi yes it is, the problem is that is a straight up tree shaded by others so I need to wait for fruit to fall as is too tall

Hi Raulglezruiz, I dont know much about garcinia but i heard they taste like mangosteen. I would like to grow some in central Florida zone 9B. Is there a certain type that is more cold hardy that you could recommend to me ? Thanks.
