Tnx

I haven't tried it but would not think it would be possible. It might be possible to graft rambutan on other species of Nephelium genus.

Better possibilities may be korlan or tadal/tadar but in the latter case you would be just as well off growing the fruit instead. I cant see any advantages in lychee or longan rootstocks.

Dear Sir
The advantages of longan rootstock is its availavility in abundace as seedlings with tap roots, high vigour, low temps tolerance, pollinator.....

Hi Ariel,

A guy with profile name 'Durio Zibethinus' in facebook(don't know his nickname here), published in facebook group 'California Tropical Fruit Growers' success story of grafting lychee over longan

In my climate korlan (Perth wa) is as vigorous as longan. Also the rootstock wont affect pollination.I seriously doubt the compatability of the two species you've chosen but will be interested to hear the results, this is why I am growing korlan, I also see no advantage with lychee. There are korlan seeds for sale now in the for sale section.

Rambutan is difficult to graft, even on its own rootstock. On korlan it might be possible. On lychee or longan don't think it's possible.

Rambutan is grafted onto itself in Costa Rica. It also works very well as an airlayer which is easier.

Yes ofcourse rambutann is grafted here also. What i was trying to say is that it's not easy even on it's own rootstock. For experienced grafters with much experience they might get 85% take. Grafting on other rootstocks, especially outside the genus nephelium is extremely difficult if not impossible. Yes airlayers on rambutan are easy, but will not do well in high pH soils, as in Florida. (I think that is why Morton got confused and said rambutan air layers are not possible in her book.)
