Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Annona muricata hybrid? SOLD OUT
« on: November 01, 2022, 11:10:44 AM »
Possible muricata hybrid seeds $3 each + shipping with tracking $9

I've made several attempts at hybridizing the orange Annona sp with other Annona species. I used muricata 'Itabuna' for some attempts. When opened up the flesh of the soursop showed orange splotches which showed that these were indeed hyrbidized. However, I also used coriacea and muricata pollen mixed in. So, there are a couple different possibilities in getting a hybrid. I'm not sure if these hyrbids will be mules or even germinate properly. I have run out of room for germinating seeds and would like to share some on here for other to try to grow. I dont have that many seeds for sale as most of the seeds in the fruit have been aborted or very few seeds. I've also had the texture of one fruit completely change to a pasty consistency. I have about 6 different fruit that have shown orange splotching. I have a couple seedlings germinating now and are very slow growing. Let me know if you have any questions.

Approach grafted on glabra. graft applied first week of July.  SOLD

My grafted tree came from Berto's fruiting tree.

Both trees I grafted flowered after grafting them.

My tree and Berto's tree are on glabra rootstock and seem to be fine long term. If I was growing it further north I might try montana.

This is my last one for sale and I have no other approach grafts applied yet.

Annona sp - I was labeling this as Annona cf nutnas but it doesn't fit any of the known orange/red annonas exactly. The budwood was originally from Bolivia and I only received as Annona sp. ----A nutans and cornifolia are in the same region and I discussed with a few guys over in Brazil and its possibly a natural hybrid between the two. The fruit is larger than cornifolia and has a creamy texture. Its a sweet taste with only very subtle flavors. Smaller seedlings about 1 yr old are $60 and larger ones about 2 yrs are $100.

Annona montana (SWEET) I received seeds from Marcos (huertasurbanas) in 2019. These are from his sweet montana. $100

Eugenia florida - I received seeds from Miguel in Portugal (MiguelPT) he said these were a very good fruit! I have a couple seedlings from Sellami @ Seeds Hunter as well. 2-3yrs old  $100

Eugenia candolleana - there seems to be a few variations of this going around. Mine is a larger leaf variety that fruits in clusters. No Astringency and when ripe i collect and put in fridge and eat when cold. sweet with subtle flavors or pitanga and cherry. My trees came from Berto about 7 years ago and began producing after 4yrs. They are thirsty trees, put on multiple blooms and attract a lot of bees! $15 each

Achachairu 'Selecto' - seeds came from Raul in Mexico - $40

Red Hybrid Jabo $20 1/2g pots

Garcinia sp (Jorco?) - I received these seeds from ETR DUDE(Ulysess) in 2019. I cannot confirm what these are but I was told Jorco is very slow growing and these might not be right. They leaf appears to be hybrid between brasiliensis and achachairu. That is what he stated as well. Another person from PR said he's not sure he ever had access to these seeds. So fair warning, Im not sure what these are. $75 3g

Chrysophyllum albidum - $75  - African Star Apple - seeds came from Jibril in 2020

Pouteria macrophylla $75 - seeds from Richard in French Guiana

Green Caimito- (Big Green Caimito) - grafted from Zills-25g $250 - I have 2 available

Im gonna try to list some plants here from local seeds Ive collected. The first is a Ximenia americana. 1 of only 2 or 3 I'll be selling. The tree is widely adaptable and can be grown into from south into central and northern florida per USDA charts. It also has a hight tolerance to salt! Ive seen a lot of trees growing in the wild around '8-'10 so Im sure can be kept in a pot. Its more of a hedge, sprawling type growth. Fruits have flavors of cherries, green apple, and hints of berries. The flowers are so fragrant they could be grown just for that. Let me know if you have any questions.

Couldn't find any info on the forum on this one so figured I'd start a thread. Seeds planted less than a month ago. Two out of ten have germinated so far.

I was dropping my daughter of at a church for gymnastics class and decided to take a walk around the property and found some old fruit trees in the back portion of the area. I saw a sapodilla tree amongst others and started checking around for some drops. I noticed one hanging low on the tree and when I checked it it was soft and perfectly ripe. I snatched it off and tried it. It was just as about as good as any other sap I've had. But I thought saps don't ripen until picked. The fruit didn't look damaged in any way and was connected to the stem. Is this normal for sap?

I got some small pineapple plants from a gentleman that has since passed away, so I'm not sure of the variety but they are the best I've ever had. Store bought pineapples are harsh on my stomach and the high acidic content is somewhat disagreeable with me. But I can eat a whole one of these with ease. Very sweet and soft tender edible core. They  have a reddish/purple tint to them and their spines will stick in you if your not careful. This year they have made so many pups (one plant has at least 12)  and I can't see the pineapple any more! I'm just wondering how pup growth effects fruit size/development. Can I harvest some of the larger pups before the pineapple has ripened up?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / 4-5 and 47-18 Annona hybrids fruiting
« on: May 21, 2014, 06:41:19 PM »
These varieties seem to be precocious, especially 47-18. I've been pulling fruits off to help them put some energy into growth but I just can't bring myself to pull off every one. Here is a pic of the 47-18 with the fruit I harvested last year. I don't know why this isn't more popular I really enjoyed it! very sweet, and I like mine a tad on the chewy side sometimes so I picked it early (just a little soft) and it had a really nice texture chewy but soft flesh. These were both developed by Har Mahdeem. 4-5 = 'Priestley' atemoya x A. reticulata var. 'Fairchild Purple'   47-18 = 'Gefner' atemoya x A. reticulata var. 'San Pablo')

47-18 (I have three fruits developing now)

4-5 with a nice purple fruit developing on it right now

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Black something on avocado
« on: May 20, 2014, 11:23:02 PM »
I sometimes stop at random houses if i see a lot of fruit trees in the yard  and the owner is outside. He showed me around and then stopped at this avocado and asked if I had any idea what it was. Not sure so I figured I'd post a pic and get some ideas.

I have some small 'Providence' mango grafts for sale. They were veneer grafted on Orange Sherbert seedlings in March and seem to be pretty vigorous. These are late season mangos that get rather large. If anyone is interested I can pm some pics. Sold out for now....sorry nothing left...thanks for the inquiries...I'll update when available.
