Wow, I figured they would have been gone by now.  This one is not propagated commercially so its quite rare as of now.  Its one of Walter Zills selections, same guy who selected Pickering.  He has a few others in the works, Edgar Mango (Edward/Gary), Guava Mango, and Providence Mango.  All of those are really good, Providence was one of my favorites last season.

I have heard good reviews, and went to school in Providence so that may be something I need to have...do you know any more info about the Providence tree? (growth habit, season, etc.)  Thanks!!

Me too.  I sent an email last night (sure it was an april fools joke) and couldn't sleep all night wondering if I got the email to mike in time!  Yes, fruit collecting has taken over my life.  Happy to say that I got one!  C'mon fruit freaks, you know you want it.  :D

Providence is a large mango, similar in size to a large Keitt.  It can be picked mature green or with some color, tastes best when picked with some color however it may have some issues if left on the tree too long.  Flavor, to me, is like a perfectly ripe Kent crossed with a perfectly ripe Keitt.  Tree seems to be a compact grower (not saying it is a dwarf but a compact growth habit.  It is not a vigorous grower and I dont feel it will make a large tree when fully mature.

A little earlier than Keitt in that it doesn't extend out as far.
