Has anyone noticed their Dragonfruit flowers opening slightly in the early afternoon, just enough to allow access for bees? This has been happening here for the last couple of days and by the time I go out to collect pollen when the flower is fully open, there is no pollen left!
The bees have to crawl through the opening and across the stamen, so hopefully they have paid a visit to different varieties, in order to cross pollinate.
I couldn’t upload a video but it’s on my instagram for those who are interested, #lockyervalleydragonfruit.
