Sweet Tart and Lemon Zest has tendency to get dangerously sweet here in So Cal. I have had them blow past max reading of 30 and with a sugar shock.

Yeah, nice Brix readings. At that Brix, they must have been amazing if not too sweet. Sweet Tart, LZ and Piña Colada have been amongst the top in terms of highest Brix readings I’ve collected so far. Thanks for the update!

Gozp, I just saw your video. Be careful when you squeeze the juice from the fruit. Any tiny particles/pulp from the fruit will interfere with the refraction of the light giving you a false reading. I’m not saying that your readings are inaccurate but just be very careful so that you can achieve the most precise readings as possible.

I usually cut a slice of mango with the peel on and squeeze the peel applying pressure on the meat of the fruit so that I don’t get particulates of fruit in the juice used for the refractometer.

I watched the video again. Pulp was not on the centerboard, but on the silverlining.

Thanks for pointing it out.

I harvested them on an early stage for growth flush.. i cud have had higher brix if i let them stay on the tree..

Here is a photo of pina colada having some fibers..

Man, I love Sweet Tart! You are growing a great selection of Mangos and your Brix readings are a good indicator that you are fertilizing and watering properly. Keep up the great work!

good work there! Valley is optimum like Palm Springs with not much risk of PM and dry heat. I can bet your LZ's would be excellent too.

My only problem is antrancnose during the winter, i lost a few mango trees even with manila rootstocks.

my readings on a small LZ fruit hit 28.3 .

Wow, the numbers just keep climbing.

Langbenite is a great source of potassium, kelp works too.

Your ratios must be perfect.

How infrequent is the watering?

Killer brix Paul! I hope you have another k3 for yr tasting. The ones I had from Florida this year were good but not even close to what yr registering. The best mango I’ve eaten this season was the guava mango we shared a few weeks ago.
