Very nice! But I guess without any sun filtering it must get hot as hell in summer!!

You're right Felipe, it's 26°C outside now and can grow to 36°C in the greenhouse, which is really hot. The pictures have been taken sunday, now there are bambus on the top and I'll install also stores on the window and aspersion system. Finally there is an old chimney comming from the "cave" , which will provide fresh wind during the summer, because we cut it as it was not used.

Pajoojo, I really like your set up especially the sliding doors.  The red color is a nice touch.

Thank you!

I did the double slide door, because it was the most practical in use, but difficult to build!!

Maybe you should put some shade cloth over the glass. Over here we use non transparent/sunfiltering material (glas, slides, films...) and cooling devises, or else it gets too hot. Plants don't like sauna  ;D

Only if you get 105F in northern california :)

Nice setup, BTW. I'd also like to suggest some shading material.

WHOA!  :o
I expected northern californa to be actually COLDER than southern! I thought you get really hot only inland in southern california! I guess that I should change a lot of my assumption on several experiences i read online regarding california growers! I expected a mild summer, and a mild winter not an HOT one!

The water along the coast keeps things mild in California, but as soon as you get into the mainland a bit, it can get very hot.  I used to live in San Jose, and one weekend it was 105 and my air conditioner went out,  so I drove 40 min to San Fransisco, and had to put on a sweater.  weird climate in Ca.

anyway I agree, you should find a way to limit the sunlight in warmer months of the year.  by the way I love your set up.  and do you know of anyone else, growing Mangoes in Greece?   that is so neat.

Neat looking greenhouse! It looks like part of a patio. I guess just opening the sliding doors would keep temperatures down in summer. If not, as already suggested, you could use some shade cloth on top.
Yes interior of northern California gets extremely hot. I used to go to school at Davis (close to capitol Sacramento) and everyone escaped during summer as it was intolerable!

Yes, I have put some bambu for the top. I will also probably do something more ambitious... a pergola on the top of the floor (all or part of it I don't know yet) to provide shade.

Thank all for your congratulations!

There is a some shop around. My one are from Peloponnese, but I ordered 30 plants...they don't deliver small quantities and they don't packed them in parcel.

Beautiful, well done!!! The plants seem very happy and healthy and thats all that matters! ;)

I agree that from a little latter in season on,a greenhouse is pretty much full of problems than providing a service so just moving the plants outside of it for the summer will do or removing the roof and/or the panels would solve the heat and bug problems that would occur latter in the season in a greenhouse. It would also make for sun hardy plants that are ready to be planted in the ground wherever you want and that will be cold hardier than greenhouse grown ones.

Oscar, I had no idea I'd been transacting business with a fellow Aggie!  Did you come there from Southern California, or move south after your tenure at UC Davis?

The first. I was studying in Davis in the late 70's. Spent 2 years there. Then went to school at UC San Diego (La Jolla).

In my place, west part of Crete, are some plantations of mangos and many home growers. The varieties are Osteen, Palmer, T.A., Irwin and they steady grow.
