Talking to G the other day...
« on: May 05, 2019, 02:46:47 PM »
And he brought up my variegated flying dragon. I've had this thing since 2005 I think. It has never flowered or fruited. Damn slow ass grower as well.

Almost a bonsai with minimal effort.

That's a very pretty tree.   Did you grow it yourself from seed?

Not that I have one, but are you still looking for a variegated Yuzu?   If so, maybe I'll get motivated enough to try planting the fazillions of Yuzu seeds I get from my tree every year.  Or not.

No, it's grafted.

I'm always looking for weird variegated citrus if you ever come accross one. I planted probably thousands of yuzu seeds & never got a variegated seedling.

I personally don't like the look of variegated citrus, they look sickly, so if I ever have a variegated seedling I'll give it to you.
I gave Eyeckr a variegated Natsumikan seedling. (would probably grow good in 9a)

Hi Laaz

How advanced do the seedlings have to be before you know whether or not you have a variegated one?  That is, do they start out green and only develop variegation later, or are they funky right at the start?

Both, some plants will be normal green & then all of a sudden they will produce a variegated limb sport. Some can show variegation from the seedling stage...
