The disease is not defeated.
But the high temperature has a similar effect on bactery as fever in human body.
Reducing damatically the bacterial titer (concentration) in vegetative area boosts tree energy pushing it to flush.
According to bibliography the effect is just temporary lasting for about 24 months.
Better than nothing, before the treatment the tree has been "paralyzed" for more than one year....
The question is, if you do it again in another 24 months will it get the tree back in shape again for another 24 months? Additionally, what about the roots that are affected by HLB, does it reduce the bacteria in the roots so the roots can rejuvenate?

Without a cure, California is in trouble as far as citrus goes due to the lack of freezing winters combined with the frequency if planted citrus trees. The only thing they can do is delay it, hopefullt a cure is found soon.

It is a variety of trifoliate rootstock, not a hybrid like swingle.

The tree was subsantially larger before the record freezes we had this past winter but still had the same issue. What disease is this? It pits holes in the leaves and kills new growth. What can i do to get rid of it permanently? Ive tried copper sprays but it didnt solve it.

They are on flying dragon which is a good cold hardy dwarfimg rootstock. Like all satsumas, they have a weeping habit. I also picked up a miyagawa and a China 9 at the same time there.

My young, first year in ground oro blanco grapefruit withstood 16 degrees (-8.89 degrees celcius) one night and 17 degrees (-8.33 celcius) the next night. It lost all leaves and the new green growth it has looks fried, but the mature growth is still alive.

Hit 16 degrees one night and 17 the next. I believe all survived above the mounded dirt with only leaf loss and small twig dieback including red grapefruit, navel, and minneola tangelo. I didnt offer any protection other than mounding dirt above graft line to ensure scion survival and hosing the ground with water prior to midnight to have add a little extra warmth.

For a quick way to throw some protection on the stem above the graft line, i make at least a foot diameter circle around the trunk with cardboard and fill it with dirt as high as i can. I then pack it so there is not a gap when the tree sways in the wind between the trunk and dirt. It looks this far as most of my trees have pulled through with multiple nights around 20, one down to 16, and one to 17. There is some damage but it does not appear to have killed any above the dirt. A lemonquat looks to have taken significant damage.

Unfortunately without a cure I do not see the spread of HLB in California slowing down. There just isn't enough of cold temperature drops to decrease the ACP population.
