Khóm/Thơm Phụng

Khóm/Thơm = Pineapple     Phụng = Phoenix

"Thơm phụng là một loại thơm mới lạ, được tìm thấy và trồng tại Tiền Giang và Long An, và một vài
tỉnh khác ở Đồng bằng Sông Cửu Long, nhưng số lượng chưa nhiều."


According to this little passage above (from this pdf document), this "Phoenix Pineapple" was found and being grown in Tiền Giang, Long An and a few other provinces in the Mekong Delta in the south of Vietnam.  I'm uncertain if this was actually created or the strange mutation was found there, but there isn't much reading materials to be found so I'll believe it for now.

Rooster ~ Phoenix ... same difference right?  ;D

I'm sure it's edible, but it's priced as an ornamental show piece so it's a lot more expensive than average cones.  Did you see the size of those mangoes from that link?

no i didn't click on link..if there is a photo I usually just look at it with out navigating away from the forum.

Figured I'd see a bunch of writing I couldn't decipher.

I'm sure this pineapple would sell pretty well, just for ornamental value...and I'm guessing its not good to eat.
