Thanks, Cookie Monster! I had a feeling that's a key reason. Though I have yet to taste a yellow variety without some fruity flavor , I'm sure most/all imported jackfruits are picked early. Maybe I just got lucky with a lot of the orange ones. Although, even the slightly fruity oranges did seem to be a bit richer in flavor/sweeter than all the yellows.

Hello! First post here. I've only ever tried jackfruit imported from Mexico to the mainland U.S., but I loved the deep orange/pink ones I was getting last summer.

I'd love variety recommendations for that taste. I don't like them too firm or crunchy, soft to medium firm is best. The ones I had were somewhat firm but really melted in the mouth.

This forum is just wonderful. :) I am so excited to learn and share. I am only beginning to grow fruit - I have <1 acre to work with, but not an inch is going to waste. Particularly excited to find unique varieties of tropical fruit available in the Hawaiian Islands.
