That would be a really interesting experiment! Not a whole lot of people grow Duguetia species. I can't really chime in about what to do with the seeds but would love to see the results!

I would recommend Robert is Here fruit stand in Homestead FL. Not sure if they are open, but when I went they had lots of fruit for sale and got smoothies from there.

They're open, but they only have a drive through now because of corona

The beetle looks a lot like a cuban may beetle, and the other bugs are just scale insects

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Golden Berries

As tomato relatives, should golden berries be treated the same as tomatoes, and how has everyone else's success been when growing them and getting them to fruit?

you should add photos of the bugs you found, also, anytime you have a bug you need to identify, just dm Bugsincyberspace on instagram, he should be able to tell you if a certain bug is eating your plant

In short, Yes.

In long, one of the embryos is a new cultivar (a result of sexual production) and the rest are all true to its parent (asexual production).

This is a dumb question, but how would you be able to tell which seedling is true to type?

it should only take about seven years before it reaches its peak production

looks like black rot to me, especially if the same thing is happening to all your other fruit

Would I be able to buy any from you?

Anyone have any recommended places to buy fresh durian in South Florida, is it even possible?

Squirrels are a problem for seeds? Well that explains why one of my seeds never sprouted..... should have thought of the squirrels...

Welp, guess its time for indoor germination then.

yeah, they completely destroyed nearly all of my seedlings, and sprouts, I always thought that they would only go for fruit, but they seem to like seedling mangoes too, they're obnoxious.......

I hate them as well.  So far they've eaten 6 of my Pickering mangos.  I tried poisoning them with zinc phosphide which didn't work.  Tried spraying the mangos with a peppermint oil concoction mixed with cayenne and didn't work.  Next thing I'm looking into is an ultrasonic noise repellent.  I'm not sure if they're effective, but I'm willing to try.

I'm glad it's just the Pickering and they haven't touched the Sweet Tart.  I've waited 3 or 4 years for my Sweet Tart to finally produce and would be devastated to lose any to them.

I would love to hear how the noise repellant works

I hate squirrels, they have been digging up my pots and destroying my seeds. Today they destroyed all my seedling plants and recently potted seeds. How can I get rid of them?

Can you ship?

21
It takes about 2-3 years for them to begin to bear fruit

22
Thank you, I'll definitely look into the soil requirements of the trees from now on

23
I have a rather dumb question for the forum, is there any difference between potting soils and potting mixes, especially when used to grow fruit trees from seed? I have very little experience growing fruit trees from seed.

24
I'm not sure of any nursery that carries any in the redlands/homestead area, but Robert is Here may have the fruits if your willing to grow it from seed, and Galloway Nursery may be able to order a tree for you

Hello I'm not sure if I'm doing this right, but anyways, my name is Michael and I have been working with plants for a good amount of time, but only recently got interested in exotic fruits.
