Title: Yellowing leaves
Post by: sosamo on September 09, 2019, 01:04:38 PM
Hi, I have a star fruit and atemoya (from seed) trees, and they have yellowing leaves.  There are new growth also.  I read somewhere that if there are new growth, but yellowing leaves, it is a result of overwatering?

I have cut back on the watering, doesn't seem to fix it.  It's been about 90 degrees plus here in So Cal, so I feel like i need to give it a little water though.  I use the cheap moisture tester from Amazon.

Side quesitons, how often do you guys /gals water your trees in the summer?

I have had limited flirtations with star fruit the corpse of the last one is now mulch in my yard. It's supposedly a tropical plant.

Yellowing leaves is often a lack of nutrients/nitrogen or overwatering, sometimes a combination.

I prefer to wait until the soil around my plant is dry down to 2 inches below the surface before watering. Overwatering combined with heat stress (when it happens) can kill even the toughest plant.
