Tropical Fruit Discussion / Bad Lychee crop
« on: May 16, 2014, 07:59:30 AM »
Looks like a dismal lychee crop this year throughout S Fl. I would assume prices will be through the roof for anyone lucky enough to have any quantity. At PIN and at my place it is just bad. Maybe next year.

« on: April 03, 2014, 10:07:18 AM »
Have a customer that is looking for a Cuban mango he calls bischuelo I believe is the spelling. It is a small juice mango that you roll in your hand and suck the juice out. OK all mango experts, does it go by a different name? Is it available? Anyone know what in the world this is? Help!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Galaxy Mango update!
« on: February 08, 2014, 01:34:02 PM »
Ok, let me clear the air about the Galaxy mango. PIN is shooting for a 2015 introduction date. While there may be a very small limited quantity available later this spring, we are planning on using most available plants that were grafted by Pin to produce more bud wood for future propagation, we hopefully will have some available this spring but due to the limited amount of available budwood that we had available to us this past summer, filling the demand for 2014 is impossible. I hope everyone understands this, believe me we want to get them in all your hands, but Rome wasn't built in a day and the demand well exceeds the supply at this time. I wish I had hundreds of them, but it is way more important to have an available supply of budwood so this variety can be enjoyed by all!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / New mango variety from PIN coming soon!
« on: November 14, 2013, 09:24:47 PM »
Pine Island nursery will be releasing a new mango variety this spring. The variety will be called GALAXY, it is a black mango with yellow dentils, it is a Keitt cross  from USDA at Chapman field, it is shaped similar to a Kent mango approx 1 1/2 lbs but best of all it is a late season mango. I will keep everyone posted on availability, it will be very limited availability till 2015. Stay tuned.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / CT Miami Moncat avocado
« on: November 13, 2013, 04:52:00 PM »
I got to taste Carlos's Moncat avocado, actually I got to taste 2 different fruit, it certainly is very good, reminds me of a creamier Catalina, looks shape wise like a Catalina with the skin type of a Monroe, I think it's a winner, and quite large size wise approx 2lbs, the seed is quite large but plenty of flesh with it's large size. O.K. Carlos hook me up with some bud wood when available, I would definitely want one for my collection and I think the tree would be a good seller, especially to the Catalina fans out there.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Super nice Miracle fruit trees!
« on: November 02, 2013, 02:33:48 PM »
Here we go! This is strictly for forum members. We have beautiful 3 and 7 gallon Miracle fruit trees in limited quantities, the 3 gallons are $35 each approximately 4-5ft tall and well branched, the 7 gallons are 5+ ft tall and also well branched, $65 each , most at the moment have fruit and blooms, these won't last, call ahead or pm for reserving what you want. Will hold orders for 7 days only. The 3 gallons are what a lot of nurseries are selling in big pots for over $100 and the 7 gallons are being sold by others same size for just stupid $$$$ I have seen them smaller and not as nice for upwards of $800. Not my price but what is being asked by others. So this is your chance to get nice adult trees cheaper than anywhere. Mike.   P.S. snooze u lose!!!!!!!!

I have a close friend looking for this tree. If anyone has it or can Aguirre it and ship it to me I would certainly appreciate it. Please pm me if it can be gotten. Mike
