I received from Maryoto 4 Nangkadak seeds today.  They were in surprisingly good shape after being in the mail for 1 month.  Maryoto did a nice job packing the seeds.  They all had pushed out a root.

Hopefully in a few years I will have a producing tree

Could you inform us what species the "Rambutan Rafia" is? Is it just a sub-species/variety of the normal Rambutan or is it a separate species?

I received from Maryoto 4 Nangkadak seeds today.  They were in surprisingly good shape after being in the mail for 1 month.  Maryoto did a nice job packing the seeds.  They all had pushed out a root.

Hopefully in a few years I will have a producing tree

Indeed, well packing to ensure great germination rates. I got 5 seeds from him a few weeks ago and all of them have sprouted. They aren't that big, growing a bit slow, since I'm colder than you guys in S. Fl are, but here they are all 5 of them sprouted https://www.flickr.com/photos/111436229@N03/12686129314/

Jack, Rafia is a cultivar name of rambutans. I have it here also. Just have it spelled differently as Rappiah.

Hi Jack,

I don't have any complete information about this rambutan rafia,may be it's a sub-species of normal rambutan but i'm not sure.
The fruit has a sweeter taste than normal rambutan,the hair/fur is very short like in the picture above and rambutan raffia have smaller seeds than normal rambutan.

I still have Mabolo seeds if you interested.

Looks like I finally found artocarpus suitable to my non ideal indoor conditions - Nangkadaks from Maryoto seeds are doing incredibly well.
