For what it's worth, I'm growing "lamb hass" here in Hawaii (I'm not aware of the carmen hass variety). It's doing very well. In only two fruiting seasons, it's outperforming every other avocado I'm growing (6 different ones). We're at 150 ft elevation with approx. 100 inches of rain per year. I believe we're in zone 12b.

How did you get Lamb Hass? I'd like to try growing one.

Hey Oscar, Plant It Hawaii is grafting them. Their next sale is Friday, April 3.

Here's some interesting reading. http://www.californiaavocadogrowers.com/sites/default/files/documents/Lamb-Hass-vs-Hass-Avocado-Are-We-Missing-Something.pdf

I,m growing it in Homestead Florida. The tree grows very well, sets a lot of fruit. I,m going on my third season . The problems is in the fruit quality. The fruit seems to be a bit smaller, you get some fruit smaller than others and i get some king of rot similar to stem rot but in the sadis and bottom. Not sure what it is.
More pictire in my web pages.

How in the fruit in Hawaii?

Carlos, thanks for sharing experience with Lamb hass, are the fruit hanging on for 18months or longer? Also is the south side of fruit where your getting bottom rot or all over? I have a tree about 10' tall that's blooming this year so maybe some fruit will set! 8)

Mark, GwenXSharwil seedling sounds like a noble adventure good luck going those seeds! ;)

Cos, you most likely won't see Carmen Hass in Hawaii until some grower buy's a bunch of Avocado's from Brokaw Nursery in Ca. they own all the patent rights to Carmen Hass as far as I know!

Gary sells 3-15 gallons in Laguna Hills Nursery in Santa Ana. If you want to see the tree preform pass by the Great Park in Irvine ....flowers year round.
