Forgot to add:

Plants are $35 each and are 1-4 ft. tall (taller trees likely) but I cannot be sure since I have not seen them in a while.

Thanks :D.

No it is not that. Is that Inga fuelleli? I am almost 100% sure that what Norman has is Inga striata after comparing photos. Also, Normans tree does not bear at this time of year, usually the season is from March to July, and sporadically throughout summer.

Sorry, got my facts messed up, it should be fruiting heavily from November to February, and then sporadically fruiting throughout the rest of the year.

It's too cold up there in Santa Barbara. We are a legitimate 10B zone in Orange County it was 86F today

78F Christmas week on the beach in Santa Barbara sounds pretty niice to me. :)
It was As warm in Santa Barbara today as anywhere on the Hawaiian islands!! I wonder how many days a year that happens.
It felt like 75 today in my yard in the Bay Area but were supposed to have low 60's for highs the rest of the week.
JF you are in a premium sub tropical fruit growing area of the state. You can grow more subtropical fruits there than anywhere in CA. I always thought the Sunset plant zone guide was a more accurate description for growing conditions in the state anyway.

When you say "today" do you mean only daytime high temperature? What about your night time temperature of 51F? Low here this evening is 65F. Sorry, i think i'll stay here.  ;)

Oscar,
I was referring to daytime temps in response to it being to cold in Santa Barbara .
I wasn't even thinking about nighttime lows. :)
It's clear to me that the BIG is THE place to be. I am looking to find some previously cultivated acreage and move there.  ;)
This time of year especially my mind wanders there if I'm not already visiting or traveling elsewhere. I should have locked it off in '99, but now I know what & where I'm looking. By the way it's currently 43 F haha.

im interested in the inga

will it work in 9a/9b ?
I am in New Orleans
most of the winter is very mild, but we get 2-3 cold snaps
this morning was 27 (coldest since last winter)
some years it barely breaks 32 though.
