My mangos are growing like crazy but it will soon get cold. Should the last flushes be tipped? Any comments?

Good to know, I was wondering about this! I have flushes I would normally tip, but now I won't.
2 days ago I tipped one tree a bit. Now I'm glad this was the only one

I wasn't thinking that I would get fruit this year...if it happens great, if not there is no expectation and no disappointment .....So I went ahead and tip pruned my Keitt about 7-14 days ago and it caused another round of flushing from all the nodes below the cuts and I am really happy I did it. The new leaves are already hardening up. Now it is just up to the fruit Gods and Mother Nature.

I tipped my largest Valencia Pride tree this time last season and got a much smaller then usual crop as a result of it. A lesson learned the hard way, that I will not repeat.

I would not tip now. Wait till spring, as the first sign of warm weather approaches, and tip at that time. I have seen to many cases where the flushes were tipped too late in the season and the buds that formed from the tipping delayed pushing or would not push at all come the warmth of "spring". It could also cause problems should we get any real serious cold spells.
Oh, and as also stated, IF you had any intentions of allowing it to try and fruit, throw that thought away if you tip it now.

Yes, mango pruning or grafting are best done before mid-September.

I agree with the fine experienced gang, best not to prune or tip this late. technical reasons as follows:
Tipping, will stimulate more growth and branching, which is great if you have a small tree and want to speed up its size. but for flowering, you want the leaves to be a few months old. ( tipping removes apical dominance ) so when the Winter and/or water stress arrives, you will get flowering instead of vegetative growth.

I pruned my Carrie mango on Sept. 13h and then on Oct. 11th. I pruned some large branches each time in order to reduce it's size. Will it hurt if I do some more pruning on Nov. 8th? Will this pruning affec my fruit mext year? It has already started growing mew growth and branches. How late can I graft different mangos on to it or do I need to wait till next spring?

I tipped two vigorous flushes on my NDM#4 in late September and the result was many smaller ones.

Ok so, not sure if this should be a different thread but, since it's about what to do with the trees this time of year I give it a shot;
Should I apply bloom boosters now? A guy at a nursery in homestead told me to apply bloom booster Oct-Nov to my large lychee tree before it went dormant. Does that work? Is that the right time? And would the same apply to mangoes or should I leave my mangoes alone?
