Does anyone know what variety the Green Star Apples are that have been showing up from Vietnam in California? Internet possibilely gave me an answer, but not even sure its a variety name.

The ones I tried weren't great, but one was sweet. Hope to find some scion wood and see if I can fruit these with a indoor/outdoor arrangement.

Yeah. you see the buds as soon as the leaves drop practically. At least in my location "real" frost chance really stops after Jan. I think. I did find out last year they can drop leaves and try again a few times at least.

They stay viable at leas a month and a half if you keep them in the "goo" around the seed.

Yeah so young leaves appear to be broader. If you think it's something else let me know. Fruit looks the same as yours though when you cut it or break it open.

I've got them to sprout fairly well, but suspect it has more to do with seed quality then me. I soak them for 24 hours, then plant. If the seed breaks off eventually I exposed the very top of the root and it eventually sends up a shoot.

I tried the tree at Santa Barbara, California. Odd smell, sweet taste. Like a acidless pitangatuba to me in a way.

Well the issue is the citrus quarentines as well as export/import/quarentine stuff. I had heard rumors there was stuff under quarentine, but it would be for commercial people.

Barath, it grows and fruits in coastal north San Diego County. It looks like it does fine there.

I think it's a temperature issue in the Bay Area. Next time I have blooms I might try the tomato set spray. I suspect a cold night issue is at play.

When grafting Garcinias do they have to be the only shoot or can you just graft a branch?
I've put so much work into some of them, plus the ones I got from Barath are getting decent sized. Kind of hesitant to graft over whole thing.

Do you have lack of iron or is the pH a problem? I use the acidifier they make to correct yellowing, but my problem is pH.
