Reading this post, i believe that here, where I am, really grow so munch subtropical and temperade especies,

Here in cucuta grows yellow oranges, lemons, pomelos, valencia oranges, tangerines of various colors, etc.... so close here are some trees  of  orange"criolla", lime and lemons between mangoes  and neems trees.

Also, here can grows some varieties of figs, grapes  concord, isabella, itálica and red glove, and pomegranates, all this growing and producing good fruit in size and quality.

Just I wish that developing some variety of peach o Apple completelly  tropical, because  the anna Apple and the florida's varieties of peach are not growing here, and to 1700 or 2500msnm, of this altitude to here is soooooo away, and are not heat, is template and cold

all the bananas produce seeds, just that are steriles, but if you want a plant growed of seed, you try with the banana´s seeds extracted of a mature fruit in the market ok,

Other metod of  know that kind of plant is, in case of the kapoks is the precense  of the thorns in all body of the plant, after of mature.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Ohelo Berries (Vaccinium reticulatum)
« on: June 19, 2013, 10:28:10 PM »
This is so similar to the mortiño(vaccinum meridionale), but ¿what temperatures grow the ohelo berrie?, degrees celsius please.

PD: are delicious?

For V. reticualtum: Maximum temperature around 80F (27C), minimum around 28F (-2 C). Taste out of hand some find is somewhat bland, better cooked and in prepared dishes. Some select fruits have better taste than others. I think it needs work to select for best tasting varieties.
How is the taste on V. meridionale? Is that an upland or lowland species? Is it sold commercially in Colombia?

the mortiño is comercial and here I pucharse this fruit in  mini boxes of 500g, and the price is the 12000 pesos or ~6 dolars. but this berrie is of zones with altitud of 1200 - 2500 msnm, a bit of cases this grow in a heat climate and require  experience.
