Anyonelses? At my 9B location, 1 of my 3 inground purple/red Grumichima trees is flowering for the first time. They're over 5 ft and been inground since October/November 2017. The other 2 have swollen buds so hopefuly they'll be flowers. The pitomba I bought at Truly Tropical around the same time and its about 3 ft tall. Never tasted pitomba some I'm hoping I'll like it. Both took the cold like a champ.

I have a section of the yard that I'm planting different types of berries and small fruits and these sound really cool. Is anyone growing these in southern California? Are these large trees or more bushy shrubs? Are there any stand out cultivars that have superior taste?

I’m growing grumichama. First year so i have no clue but so far growing bushy like an untamed pomegranate.

Nice! I was able to try some at a nursery about two months ago and I really liked it. My daughter ate them so fast I was only able to eat one or two small fruit. What type do you have? Are you aware if there are superior cultivars?

Thats very encouraging news for pitomba for me. I tasted grumi for the first time last year off of two trees at a nursery and was blown away on how sweet and delicious they were. Bought the two trees on the spot. I too give my trees a good slow soak with the hose about once a week.

Hard to beat a big grumachama bloom for smell.
Orange blossoms out and the mix is a perfume that can only be believed when smelled yourself.
I have a cherry row wilth Zill Black Suriname, Barbados, Kona coffee, Corg, and grumachama
Plus a pitangatuba and pitomba planted not far from others
As a landscape planting the grumachama scores big there also.

Pitomba in the US is luschnatiania.

My grumichama is flowering but only a few blooms, last year it had way more. I recall them flowering later in the year so maybe it will produce a second crop. Pitomba has one lonely bloom. But my cotrg has an abundance of flowers so I'm hoping for a decent crop

Immediately increase watering to increase blooms on your grumichama.

I had a lot of issues with pitombas dying when they arrived at my house - I think shipping damage or just too damn hot when I put them out (not even in full sun). Most defoliated but I kept watering and they are slowly coming back. I had a few to test, so I put the healthier ones in full sun and they are fine.
Grumichama I've been keeping in part shade because the leaves always seem to get burnt.

Are yours in the ground? I can't get mine to grow well and it is potted, but I just changed the soil to better draining and I hope that helps.
