Couple questions about black sapote.
« on: October 11, 2018, 09:10:47 PM »
Does it need cold protection? Overnight winter lows in my area can reach 30s briefly, usually in the 40s.
Also, some leaves' underside are black, the other side (that faces the sun) is green. What caused it to turn black?
Thanks!

I would plan to bring the tree in if it will be in the 30's or lower, it's in a pot
why take a chance? If you are planning to put the tree in the ground plant in the
Spring. In the picture the new leaves look ok?

If the tree can take 40s on some nights, then I may put it in the ground next spring. If it's too tender for that temp, then it'll stay in the pot, upsizing as necessary. The majority of the leaves are fine, only some have black underside.
Thanks,

In South Italy there are people which are growing it. And as I know it's not been damaged also with 32° F for few hours. I think it could also survive at 30° F...
