Saw this at a supermarket in Folsom, CA today.
Buy a fruit, get a free cutting.

A couple of articles indicated that Atemoya grafted on soursop rootstock grew slowly.

I have a couple grafts going.
They are at pushing stage so I don’t know how well they would grow.
I only need them to grow a little.
I don’t need them to grow vigorously.

Why are you interested in grafting Atemoya to soursop?

Hormones flow down.
Nutrients flow up.

Your bark graft is at the apex of that branch.
There are no hormones to flow down, to limit your graft.
Your rootstock is huge so pinching things below the graft does nothing!

Good luck!

Are there any trees there are immune to MBBS planted next to Kent?

I would graft at A now.
The grafts won’t have shading problem now.

Next year B and C won’t flower so they would put out new leaves to grow the tree.
Trim B to reduce shading of grafts.
Tree could hold a few fruits from grafts.

Cut above A in 2-3 years when tree is bigger.

I have AB in 15G short.
AB doesn’t need cross pollination.
Ate 10 fruits this season.

If your DF needs cross pollination you need to find a variety that flower at the same time, in your climate.
You can’t plant random varieties.
Not easy.

Cut DF
Expose 1/2” of center wood.
Soak in 1” of water.
Roots in 18 days.
No need to dry the cuts.

A safe method is to have a nurse branch.
A nurse branch feeds the roots while the tree recover.

Cut the top 4 branches then graft or wait for new shoots then graft.
Thin the bottom branch by half to 2/3. This is the nurse branch.
Remove it after grafts are done.

BS seems to know what he’s doing.

That’s so cool.

Put latex gloves on.
Crush the pests.
Spray carcasses off.

Hide scion under shade but expose rootstock to sun.

1 tsp Borax to 1 tsp peanut butter

438
All 3 of my trees from group buy had side veneer grafts.
Just look at your trees.

I mixed Borax with peanut butter, on top of an old credit card.
I put card by exit hole.
The ants surrounded the card and ate all.

No more fire ants here.

Abe,

Post a picture of your Sugarloaf before you sliced it?

Mine has been in the sun.
The white tiles burn the lower leaves.
I now have a tall tree next to it to block the afternoon sun.

Dad kept old growths so they flowered early.
We ate a couple of American Beauty.

Some more are almost ready.

You could grow out as many as you like and select the good ones to keep.
You only need to graft them if you intent to sell copies of a good one.

The seedlings would give a mix of varieties.
You need to learn how to ID them.

Put a stake to the same height as a leaf so you can tell when the leaf droop.
Just wait it out and water when you see the leaf droop.
Formulate your watering schedule then.

My Black Peak is no good.

This rootstock is getting full sun.
Last week it couldn’t.

Graft all on a big tree.
Cut scions or air-layer later.
