You can lop your entire cherry tree off and put in couple of bark grafts.  The stone fruits are amazingly easy to graft.  You have to really try to make them fail.  Just be sure to support the graft for the first year because it can put 4 or 5 feet of growth on before the grafts are healed.

I top worked a non performing cherry tree also with those ones that produce like minnie royal and royal lee.

Spicy Z is kind of a dud IMO.  The fruit is decent but the skin gets russeting here.  Most people I know have the skin russeting.  Only person I know who claims to have clean nectarines sprays his trees.  I dont have time or desire to spray my trees.

The central valley has way more chill hours than the coast.  Thats why they get good fruit set on the higher chill types.  You would have to check your chill hours there Pat but I can tell you with certainty that anything rated above 250hrs doesnt fruit that well here.

I wouldnt call that "passing away".  More like got shot for threatening his own mom who had a reatraining order against him.   :o

Yikes, you sure its the same guy?

Fruit drama...

Only stuff that will flower reliably here(my house) require 300hrs or less chill hours.  I clicked a few of those in the link and they are all 600+ hrs

Non-astringent persimmons are just flavorless matter in my opinion.
Really?  I've never found them flavorless, but they're nothing like a soft persimmon.  Some people (my wife included) don't even like soft persimmons because they're turned off by the jelly-like texture.

I prefer fuyus.  There arent flavorless, that sounds like just a bad batch.  The ones off our tree here are total sugarbombs.

I will have to look up what that pineapple is called tomorrow.  The tag is in the greenhouse.  Its a decent one though.  Theres several similar ones like that from hawaii that are smooth cayane crosses.  Ill get the name of that one tomorrow.  I should have cut that one but wanted to save it for my daughter, she really likes pineapples and cherimoyas.  My family left and went to a kids birthday party while we were having the get together.

Nice seeing you guys again.  It was pretty easy going today, I liked that.  Got to talk to most of you this time.

Heres a couple of the PR avocados.  The long green ones were pretty good.  The more round one wasnt as good as the shiny green ones.  The one on the right was the best one, everyone agreed is was a nice fruit.  Not super oily but nice flavor.

No my poms are done they were cracking and finishing weeks back.  I did try some ariana fruit this year and wasnt impressed.  Too much seed pith.

I cut a couple nice pineapples.  They could have gone a few more days but they were close.

I'll be there Brad. Had a conflict but it went away :)

You caught the omnimoron variant or what?  ::)  ill need to check your papers before you are allowed on the premises.

Unfortunately I was out of town last week and wasnt able to pick them as soon as I should have.  Most of the fruit still feel hard.  I have them in a room with a heater set at 90 trying to get them soft in time.  We'll see, it does work but Im not sure if it will be enough this late.  Theres some soft ones though just not a couple of the mo ster sized ones I wanted to cut.

i got 6 orders off so far.  theres still more fruit, it just isnt all ripe at once so I wait and will go through the list in order as more fruit comes in.  Sometimes the season last a couple months so you may hear back weeks from now as I go dow the list.

Pat, sometimes fruit fall off and animals eat it and a pile of seeds is left, or we toss one in the compost and bury the trash in a planter bed and whever the seed piles end up theres always a ton of sprouts some day.  Same with avocados, they end up sprouting all over the yard like weeds.

1190
Carlos, i put them into small pots of well draining dirt and keep it wetted.  I use bagged cactus mix.  You want wet but not soggy.

You can soak them for 8hrs prior to planting also.

They sprout really easy just be patient and wait about 2-3 weeks and they will sprout.

I assume the weather is warm enough for them to germinate in Miami.  80f should be good.  Use a heat mat if its not warm enough.

You can put 20 seeds in a 5 gal pot to sprout and then dump them out and seperate and repot if you want also.  The cherimoya sprouts are very tough and can be bare rooted without harming them.
We are running unusually cool nights in the 50's  day time comes up to low 80's you recommend
I put them in the sun, shade or inside?

inside at night.  they will probably still pop even at 50 at night but it will be faster indoors at night.  80 is pretty ideal

im going start some soon too and put them in starter pots on a heat mat in thebgarage to speed things up.

Paul you would have already needed to cut the fruit for it to be ready by Saturday I think.

So it seems like the group is pretty small which is good, I dont want a big party this time.  Theres a lot of equipment and mess here with construction and parking is limited.  Please just bring yourselves this time, no guests and no new people this time sorry.  Several new people asked about coming, nothing personal I just dont want so many people this time.  Last time there were friends of friends and family of everyone and the UPS driver and his hot daughter :o and my brothers wifes aunts daughterinlaws sisters cousin once removed. Too many people, I didnt even get a chance to chill out and talk to most people that came.

We can do a huge party next time I promise.

I can ship these overseas but the postage is around 15$, I have no control over that price, thats what it costs.

And the label needs to be valid in usps website so I can do the postage online.  Cant stand in line and fill out papers in the post office for 5$ worth of seeds.

Nice Kang see you.

Simon, if you are coming and feel up to it some sugar juice would be awesome.  If its too much hassle don't worry about it.  Ive got some canes but we have been rationing it.  Need to plant more of that its one of our favorites.
