Kris, I did the same last year.  The Surround seemed to hold up fine through the year, and with plenty of rain sessions.  I need to get out there and "paint" the top branches of my exposed trees today.  Thanks for the reminder.
Nice to know. I used it on the leaves and it didn't seem to help much last year. This morning I put new suports in, white washed, and gave them a good watering. I've already had some sun burn happen this year. It's too hot. Hopefully these do well this year. I hate how the stewart grows.. It may get yanked anyways.

Thanks for the replies.

Too sweet? No way! Of course this comes down to personal preference, but I think they taste great.

I got the tree because I have a kid, it's fun to go out and pick some, the tree has ripe fruit more than half of the year.

But, I probably would not have bought this thing if I could go back. The roots it sends out are no joke. If someone wants to grow one, I would recommend container growing or plant it in the corner if you have a whole lot of property.
And here I am... can't even get one to grow!

Hey Naysen,
I have around 30 avocado seeds started and will be grafting several to Reed if I can get scions. I'll keep you in mind In case I have spares. I've seen a Reed at green acres before but haven't made it out your way in a while...
Dang I went to my local nursery for strawberries which they were out of and just stopped by some avocado's that just arrived and left with a Gwen tree. That makes the 5th new avocado tree this spring. I've added a Carmen, D'Arturo, Reed, Gem and Gwen to my collection. My other trees are Pinkerton, Fuerte, Bacon, Mexicola, Stewart and Wurtz.
Nice! I wish I can do the same but I have too small of a back yard.
Where'd you find the Reed.  I've been searching around for one for a few years.  I'm growing in containers as well.  I have five in container and three older ones in the ground.

Speaking of juicers, this lemon/lime juicer is the best.  They have them online, highly recommend.

These ones work pretty well. I have an electric one I use as my Meyer lemons are to big for the manual style

That's basically what I want to do, ive germinated them in vermiculite then planted in small pots and they never thrive, then die.

What soil mix are you using?

I live in a farming town in norcal.. all the stonefruits have fruit on them now so not likely to have anyone selling scions right now.

I grated 25+ scions on to my pluot this february. Might need to look earlier in the year.

Goodluck!

This post gives me hope. I planted a small tree last fall and recently put on some grafts (about 4-5 weeks ago) that are started to push.
Are they normally pretty slow to push?

My tree should have Suebelle, super sweet and younghans.

I'm not familiar with that sprayer, but I have some experience with black and decker batteries in different power tools.
the batteries are terrible in my opinion. But again, I am but one person. :)

When is the earliest you would generally graft a sapodilla out of curiosity? Mine are probably very near one year old and are just now getting some bark. They haven't really started to push for the year but they seem to be super slooooow, thought not particularly needy.

I’ve cleft grafted them thinner than pencil thickness. Probably around a year old or less. I’ll see if I can find some pics.
mine are super tiny. Has anyone grown one in northern CA? Haven't seen any out here.

Very nice! My seedling was planted outside last fall and is just now waking up and got hit by a late frost.
It has some leaves pushing though so hopefully mine will look this gorgeous soon! I've never grown a eugenia and now I have several seedlings... :D

My county hasn't been affected much yet (3 cases) but I am an hour north of sacramento so it's just a matter of time.
With less packages coming in my mail has been arriving early every day.
It's interesting to see so many people at home - with decent weather lately the streets are crowded with people walking outside, doing yard work, washing cars. I haven't seen that many people outside in a long time.

Artichoke and banana work well here.
So do any vegetable greens. I chop and drop chard, kale, radish greens
