If they are cutting grown they usually try to fruit right away and fruit will hold in the first year without dropping. Can be kept at a small size easily by treating it like a hedge. Cut back fairly hard after fruiting once it has reached mature size. They grow vigorously, will likely put on 2 feet in the first year. Because the fruit on new growth they espalier well, which makes bird protection and picking easier. Rob
