What a depressing sight. The magnificent lychee grove that Edison and Ford planted in the early 1900's is gone. Cut down a little over a week ago when the land was sold. I talked to the county a couple of years ago about trying to preserve this land as a historic site and they said no. They didn't have the money.

A couple of before and after pictures.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Under The Jackfruit Tree

This is where I relax every afternoon. It keeps me out of the sun and I get a lot of reading done here. I'm basically lazy so this suits me just fine. One of the photos is of some of my backyard trees including the jackfruit tree, small cambuca, mauritius lychee, glenn mango and trunciflora jabuticaba. Many more that you can't see.

Here's a video of my small Grimal as it looks this morning. I pugged and chopped it to let more light in.

My large one is also blooming crazily now but slower due to the branches shading the bark in my opinion.

Last of the coronata restinga seeds. I might have 30 or so left. These are very precocious taking only 4 years to fruit from seed. At least here in Ft. Myers.

$7.00 per seed + $2.60 domestic shipping and $18.00 international shipping.

40
Sorry about this double post but I don't know how to delete it.

This is the last of the Otto's for awhile if anyone is interested.

$7 per seed + $2.60 domestic shipping.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Jabuticaba 'sabara' Fruit
« on: January 26, 2017, 01:56:40 PM »
Getting close to the end of the winter season.

$20 + $6.95 for a small postal flat rate box. I'll probably measure with the flat rate box and transfer them to a larger box for safer shipping. For $10 shipping I'll send them in a slightly larger box with more fruit.

Down to the last seeds of both species. Coronata restinga will fruit from seeds in 4 years. Very good, sweet fruit with a thicker skin then the Otto Anderson. Otto Anderson is probably the best tasting jabuticaba available even in Brazil. A truly unique taste which has been compared to candy and the cereal Fruit Loops. The skin is thin, sweet and edible.

$7.00 each plus $2.60 shipping in the U.S. and $7.00 each plus $18.00 international shipping.

I still have a ton of sabara fruit still on the trees if anyone is interested. I hate to see it go to waste but I have a full freezer and I don't drink alcohol (jabo wine) or eat jelly (jabo jelly.)

Tropical Fruit Discussion / M. coronata restinga
« on: January 20, 2017, 02:36:30 PM »
A smaller ripe fruit from one of my coronata restinga's. It appears that just about every flower sets into fruit which is pretty amazing for a first time bloomer and especially the rarer jaboticabas which in my experience don't normally set with the first blooming. You can clearly see the crown at the apex of the fruit.

This is a short video.

There is no guarantee on the safe arrival of the fruit but I'll pack them the best I can.
