Pitangatuba icecream
« on: May 05, 2012, 02:46:28 PM »
Mash one pitangatuba (remove seed) into one cup of icecream (preferably nice vanilla icecream).

when mashing, make sure to use a knife if possible, it helps to cut up any fibrous bits of fruit....also stir thoroughly.

Now enjoy an endangered tasting treat.

Same recipe can be used for pitanga (and similar structured relatives), just use more fruits...about a ratio of 8-1, rather than 1-1...fruit to icecream.

Berto!

Now when I look at my tree, I count the bowls of icecream (one per fruit) instead of counting fruits!

I make sure to keep a supply icecream when these are in season!

If you really want to go crazy, add 2 fruits per cup of icecream...I'm poor, I could only afford 1!

let me know if you try this!

jackwhisper,

let me know how it turns out!  they fibrous bits of the fruit may be strange as far as texture, if u just try to chop up cherries...it may be even better to put them in a food processor once the seeds have been temoved.  then stir in fruit juice!

either way is fine I bet! good luck!

I used one big one.  It had two seeds!
Keep up the good work!
By the way, just finished talking over the phone with a myrciaria guy in Brasil, your clone in Brasil.  I mentioned you, and he wants to connect! Very soon, we will have a pitangatuba/jabuticaba hybrid.
I will send you an email.

Hi Adam,

I tried your recipe...But, my brain went over board...sorry, I corrupted your recipe.

I made a suri sauce with a bit of sugar(on da stove)...the taste reminded me of goiabada(guava jam) :o I loved it ;D ;D ;D  :)
