Citrus General Discussion / Re: Is this a Sumo fruit?
« on: November 07, 2021, 10:46:56 AM »
I’m guessing 2018, before the state came in to treat all my citrus trees.
First year the tree had 3 fruits.
2 didn’t have top knot.

Most tangerine fruits 5’ from Sumo tree had top knot.

Neighbor’s Kishu tree.
It’s all about pollens.

I’m adding food grade DE to pots.
Don’t use cheap pool filter DE.

I remove leaves from my yard so minerals get depleted.
Does your soil report indicate how long the silica last if you do the same?

20% of rice hull is amorphous silica.
My potting soil has rice hull.
I add rice hull mulch to increase silica.
My mango tree doesn’t droop so I don’t know if adding more silica help with drooping.

DE is another source of silica.
So is steer manure.

3 weeks earlier than last year.

Any tree ripen cherimoya at your orchard, Brad?

« on: October 04, 2021, 01:51:02 AM »
There are a few varieties of seedless guava.
I have an unknown one.
Some fruits had 0 seeds.
Some had less than 10 seeds.
They were crispy and sweeter than my other seeded fruits.

Many nurseries sell them.
Here is a sample http://www.chfruittreenursery.com/product/seedless-guava-unique-aroma-great-fruit-must-have/

Those galvanized ducts are common in stores.
You deform them to snap together.
Deform again to open.

Maybe leaves on your tree are very old so they flattened.

Which varieties do you recommend for pots?

I don’t have an answer for you.
Grow all then pick.

Are you NV of Simon’s NV1?

Fig trees don't grow here due to nematodes in the soil.

Have you tried growing them in pots?

My favorites for this year (2021) has to be the Vista.

Vista is same as VdB.
