Peach palm, (Bactris gasipaes) how big do they have to be to start flowering(in florida)?I have two very healthy palms with 5+ feet of very thorny trunk.

it should only take about seven years before it reaches its peak production

Okay we have bloom!I think it was 3.5 to 4 years to bloom.I think this has to be one of the most dangerous palms to grow .

Have you tried growing any of the thornless varieties?

The thornless varieties I have is a old one, but seems to be for palm hearts from frankie's nursery waimanalo Hi.Not for fruit production.It is long way from the house so thorns okay just have to use poles for picking and trimming it does make salak seem tame.
