Hi,
Found this in a corner of the Naples botanic garden togeter with limequat and mandarinquat. Is it a kumquat / grapefruit hybrid?

Grapefruit would have a winged petiole. It almost looks like a chinotto orange, but the leaves are too large.
-
The chinotto oranges i saw in Italy and Malta looked and tasted very differently. And do you think that two orange colored citrus would produce a pale yellow hybrid? The taste really reminded me of grapefruit/ pomelo.
-
It could be a hybrid of almost anything. Best bet is to ask the owner.
-
I'd be interested in trying a kumquat grapefruit hybrid, though my experience so far is that kumquat hybrids aren't worthwhile.
-
Well, i left Italy so ill have to ask later. And yes, the normal oval kumquat is the tastiest so far but having pint sized versions of different citrus with edible rind is also fun. :)

Try changshou kumquat it is large & quite good for a quat.

Changshou kumquat is also known as Fukushu kumquat. I have a Fukushu tree and as Laaz wrote it does have a good taste. In my estimation the Mewa Kumquat is the best of all the kumquats.

I really would like to try but the kumquat diversity in Germany is greatest in botanic gardens and i dont have a cooperation with all of them ;)

I only grow the variegated & the changshou. My changshou is about 25 ft tall out in the front yard.
