Where did you get the seeds? Sounds to me like they are kaput.

I wouldn't toss them yet. Not zero probability, but very low probability they will sprout. Brazil nut is tricky to sprout. Best is to buy sprouted seeds, if possible.

I've had Monkey Pot germinate after just a few months. Some of the ones lagging took nearly 6 months. Maybe gently push one to see if it has started rooting. Seems like they grow pretty readily to me. There are plenty laying on top the soil germinating under the mother.

I needed the pots so i'll just dump them in a pile in a moist shaded spot. I'll keep a look out for sprouted seeds, let me know if you can find any.

I checked them all and no roots, any chance you could pull up a few under the mother tree and ship them to me ;D

Monkeypot (Lecythis) is a lot easier to sprout than Brazil Nut (Bertholletia).

Hi

To have good germination, you need fresh seeds that have not been dried. (I'm not saying that, whoever sold you sent dried seeds!).

It is advisable to remove the bark and plant it in fertile soil, with the rounder seed of the seeds for low, on average I already had Brazil nut germination in 70 days, but the tree does not go well here in my region, since winter is Cold for them.

I advise you to break some seed and see how the nut is. If it's rotten, maybe you'd better plant it again.

Thanks for the info, i will crack the nuts to see if the inside is rotten. I had 2 brazil nut trees but lost one to lack of humidity but i did leave it out in 40F and it was fine, my other one is starting to grow good now. Its one of my favorite nuts so i want to get at least 50 or more trees so im on a look out.

Check it, I have the pots spread out in different spots, some stay moist, cool and shaded, others dry out in areas next to full sun, some in my room stay even temp. throughout the year, so i gathered them together and i had check them all but a few outside and to my surprise 1 of those just sprouted today ;D so they can still sprout a year later, good to know. The funny thing is those few in that area were the most neglected and were outside all winter but the ones i was consistent with and kept warm nothing. I haven't check the other ones yet now there is a chance of sprouting, i'll just let them be. Funny it sprouted right as i posted about it. Maybe i should post how long Duguetia lepidota takes to germinate ;) ;D

Ive noticed the same with other seeds such as Kepel (Stelechocarpus Burahol) the ones i nurtured nothing and the ones i left outside and neglected all germinated. Same with cola nut (Cola Acuminata)

Also the one plant i have that i thought was dead with a shriveled stem but couldn't except it and kept watering and fertilizing just sprouted from the roots again within the past 2 days and that was also left out all winter, so their extremely hardy.

Paradise nut is as good tasting, and many say better tasting, than Brazil nut. It's also easier to fruit.
Great you got one Brazil nut to sprout. But i think you need at least 2 plants for cross pollination. Viable Brazil nut seeds are super hard to get.

Should have paradise nut again in late summer. Don't have a good source of viable Brazil nuts. BTW my 2 Brazil nut trees have been very slow growing, but are now both over 6 foot tall. I wonder if they will fruit in my lifetime? Well, fun to watch them grow anyway.

I always say watching the tree grow is the best part, The fruit is the bonus. How old are your trees?
