I have 2 smaller ones (about 45" tall) that I purchased from Park Seed Nursery
about 1 1/2 years ago. They handle the summer sun okay as long as I keep them
watered. I also protected them when the temps dropped below 45 last year.

I have a seedling growing ok too. Would they produce good tasting fruits? What do you think? They say the taste of the fruits may be awful and varies from tree to tree a lot if they were grown from the seed.

They  are, well maybe I should say were when I lived there in the 80s and 90s, used as hedge material in Gainesville and never sustained damage.  Being thier temp extremes equal and/or exceed yours, dont think they would need any protection.

There's only one reliable.e self fertile variety and that's Unique. It is said to be grainy textured though. I haven't had a fruit set on mine.

Is your plant a self pollinator? How old is it?

I have a coolidgei plant from LaVerne Nursery sold by Home Depot. It only sets a few fruits a year or not at all. That's why I had to graft onto it so there's different pollen sources. The Unique branch from March this year hasn't made flowers yet. An older (3yr) branch of Lickver's Pride made 2 fruits last year and they were good. I think the original tree (~7yrs) I got is just a dud.

Very interesting. I wish our local Home Depot carried varieties other than, orange, grapefruit and lemon and lime trees.

I also have a Coolidge from LaVerne as well as a Nazmetz. Both were too small to flower this year, but probably will next year (they grew nicely this summer). I definitely opted to get both based on the cross-pollination issue.

I made a mistake. It was the Apollo graft that fruited last year, not lickver's pride.

I was told LaVerne doesn't produce the nazemetz variety anymore. I don't know if that's true. It's a good one and won taste tests in the past.

They do (or least did this year) propagate Nazemetz. I picked mine up from Lowes this summer. La Verne sells to Lowes and HD in our area too.
So if they did stop propagating it, it would have been very recently.

Okay, that's good to hear. There's not too many places propagating these.
I'm airlayering some branches of my tree that's getting too tall. But my location may be too hot for this plant. I guess yours is too. I'm thinking I could put the layered plants in the front yard which faces north.

Even the varieties that profess to being really aren't, at least when young. There are larger stand alone trees here in my part of SoCal that fruit well, but who knows if that's due to age or if there is another tree nearby. Always best to get 2 varieties for cross pollination. Seed grown are pretty much only good for rootstock

Seeds from good tasting varieties should produce good tasting fruit. The plants I see are self fertile but cross pollination should help any fruit tree . The lack of fruiting appears to be from too hot a location.
