WTB: Sweetie
« on: November 30, 2019, 01:58:45 AM »
I am looking for the variety that is commercially sold under the name sweetie. I am not sure if it's the same variety as Oroblanco.

It is a tangelo.....Murcott. I am not sure what they sell in Prague but here the Sweetie is sold by the bag. It may be a patented variety.???

A grapefruit of Israel, patented similar or most likely a Oroblanco. Nothing to do with Murcott.
I have a one year seedling from the only seed I found. High chances to grow true to type. Look at my post from last year.
I hope in one year will set flowers.

Yes, it should be a hybrid very simmilar to Oroblanco. I am curious if it's possible to get it in Europe already.

I have one grafted Sweety plant since many years - bearing fruits every year. Fruits aregetting yellow inmy climate, taste is exactly like Sweety which are sold in supermarkets.

I once found a single seed in a Sweetie and planted it. It has flowered this year for the first time after around four years from seed but hasn't fruited yet.
