pagnr & seanny, didn't mean to offend you guys trying to grow out Bearss lime seeds. It sounds interesting about the possible hybrid cross you might get.

I’m not offended.

I’m growing some Sumo seedlings for fun but something ate all tips last night.

I think Ive heard bearss limes are mono-embryonic.  Anyone know if that's true? And are they pollen sterile

I graft on big tree to save scions then deal with rootstock later.

Yes is was a rare seed from a seedless Bearss lime fruit.

The point is that it’s difficult to get a seedling from a rare seed from a seedless variety.

Try it and report back?

Do you have a diagram of how to thin?

I had a Bearss seed.
It didn’t sprout.

Brewster, Hak Ip, and Emperor are blooming here.

284
In my yard, about 1/2 of cherimoya seedlings, when started around March, are ready for grafting by November.

285
Well I have a potted Black Pakistan but I'm not sure the branches are thick enough to accommodate the cuttings that you will send. I want to put it in ground but it would take a few months or more i'm sure to grow to the correct size.

I asked for 3/16” scions and Kaz sent them.
He’s very accommodating with special requests.

Cherry seems to be easy to graft.

287
What type of graft you use for grafting mulberry?

It’s good to hear that you are getting fruits by the border.

Brad,

Post a picture of that wax applied to a bark graft?

I’m in Orange County.
The closest weather station to me is in Irvine.
Not many chill hours.

The label on my tree is Coral Champagne.
Info on it says it’s self sterile.
My 2 adjacent neighbors don’t have cherry trees.
My smaller Royal Lee has few flowers.
Its pollen is not compatible to CC.
Yet both trees are holding fruits.
CC is holding a lot of fruits.
Some are in clusters.
I’m scratching my head on this.

I’m keeping all my cherry trees in pots, to keep their roots cold in winter.
It’s just a hunch.
I need to read some more.

Cooler pomelo fruit means more lycopene, deeper red.
The bag above blocked most light to keep fruit cool.

Maybe your Chandler fruits were too hot inside GH?

Peel a strip of bark off the rootstock.
Slice off a veneer of bark from scion.
Back cut the bottom of scion.
Slide scion under bark.
Wrap up.

Bundle the leaves then cut off bottom half.
Fill ziplock with some water.
Put bundle of cut leaves inside bag.

Shade for 2 months then acclimatize the graft.

Grafted tree.
All leaves are original leaves on scion.
Scion lost a few leaves during healing.

Another graft.
No need to remove tip nor leaves on the rootstock when grafting.

Trim tree after graft is good.

According to picture above, Royal Lee and Coral Champagne can NOT pollinate each other.
I set both trees side by side.
Both trees are holding fruits.

Either my trees are mislabeled or bees are bringing pollens from somewhere.

I bought Coral Champagne from Costco last year.
It was huge for $40.
I bought it to graft flowering cherry.
I’ve decided to keep it for fruit.

A friend told me today that Costco have cherry tree now.
I haven’t been to Costco so you need to stop by to check.

If you still want scion in winter I can send you for postage.

It’s 40 year old Navel orange.
Most years it’s too tart for me.
Some years it’s good.

We make OJ from it.

I’m surprise to see a few Royal Lee fruits.
I thought RL and Coral Champagne can not pollinate each other.

Store bought one tasted like a  January Sumo, too tart.
Thick grind, hard to peel
It was seedless.

Home one tasted sweet, with a little tart.
It had 4 seeds.
Easy to peel.

Late March to April is good for Sumo in my yard.

Massive bloom wow!

I would graft if I can get scions locally.
I’m last on the mail route so scions would get cooked inside mail truck.
0 success for all scions from mail orders so far.
