This started happening about a month ago when the new growth started emerging.    I thought it was maybe iron so I gave it some chelated iron about 3 weeks ago.  It didn't seem like it was working.  So next I that maybe magnesium so I gave it epsom salt about a week ago.  I then noticed even the clovers underneath the tree started looking the same.   The two longan trees next to it is fine even the clovers underneath the longans are fine.   Lie always your help is always appreciated.

I saw a couple articles that state if you prune a fig tree it would send  more of its energy into ripening the fruit faster.  Does this apply to cherimoya also?   My cherimoya is a mature tree and I usually prune down at least 4ft every year.  Seeing some post from the more experienced growers don't sell scion when they have fruit hanging I assumed that it wasn't wise to prune mine while there are fruit hanging. As always any input is much appreciated.

Pictured is a cherimoya flower I already hand pollinated.  Once it opened up can I use the pollen from the same flowe to pollinate other flowers?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Sweetheart lychee new growth problem
« on: April 26, 2022, 01:17:50 PM »
Hi All,

I have a 2 year old in ground sweetheart lychee that's having some new growth problem.  Im located in southern California from the charts I see online it looks like either boron, or calcium difiency but not sure. Any gurus know what it might be exactly?

Thanks ahead of time for the input.

I might have to do some bark grafting if new shots dont come out.  So im looking for suggestions or recommendation for a sealer.    I checked on amazon and home depot looks like its the bonide brand or the tanglefoot ones.   I remember in one of Dr. Campbell's videos that he used a japanaese product.   Let me know what you use and where to buy it.  Thanks!

750ml henne bottle as reference.  I found the taste a little sweeter and complex then AP.  My new favorite :)

I googled it and only thing i found was if the bumps smooth out and skin color changes to a yellowish green?  I used this last year for my pink mammoth and i think i picked it too early.  Others i have seen is to wait for fruit to drop?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Orange sherbert or lemon zest?
« on: September 09, 2021, 12:48:01 PM »
Hello just wondering if what I have is orange sherbert or lemon zest? I bought this scions as orange sherbert but after reading up on it more seems that early on a certain retailer was selling lemon zest as orange sherbert.   I remembered somewhere that you can tell by the leaves but couldn't find it anymore.

I have lots of clovers growing pretty thick in my planter.  Are they weeds or do they actually help my fruit trees?  From what I read they act as nitrogen fixer? Any other benefits?

It's been in ground for one season.  I noticed it leaking sap couple months ago.  Today I went a removed one of 3 sap balls and this is what I found.   Area effected is about 2 feet off the ground. I did buy the tree from Armstrong nursery  but would hate to replace if I don't have too.  What is it and how can I treat it.
Like always your input is always appreciated

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / My 5 year old sweetheart
« on: January 05, 2021, 11:56:30 PM »
This was one of the first tree I put in ground when we bought our 1st house.  Many trial and error on my behalf  because it was a learning process.  Even being through all those crazy socal windstorms it have put on some girth. Look Mom minimal burn tips :)

Thank you all for the wealth of knowledge you all have shared to this community  🙏

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Which is the best tasting seedless guava?
« on: December 21, 2020, 02:44:12 PM »
I saw from a couple vendors that they have a couple varieties.  What I have seen is oval, apple, Taiwanese etc...... from what people have tasted which one is better? I like the white thick fleash that is crunchy.  I don't mind them not too sweet as long as flavor is complex.  Let me know what you have tried and what you recommend

Thanks!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Biew kiew longan review
« on: November 04, 2020, 12:00:18 PM »
So after four years I finally get to harvest my bounty.  Tree is only 6 feet tall but just as wide.   Its one of the sweetest longan I ever tasted with a bit of fragrance aftertaste which is very pleasant.   Flesh had a but of crisp to it not as delicate as the pepper seed or Hawaiian.   Seed is not as big as the Hawaiian  variety.  Skin is thin.   I was pleasantly  surprise fruit size is pretty big about the same size as my Sri chompoo.   Sri chompoo wasn't as sweet but taste was more complex.   I easily would pick this over Hawaiian and pepper seed variety.   I would be torn between Sri Chompoo.  If you like sweet definitely the bieu kieu.   To me the Sri Chompoo has the same flavors but more balance.  The Sri chompoo also has beautiful  scarlet red flushes that I love.
