Tropical Fruit Discussion / Young Pitangatuba Decline
« on: May 25, 2020, 07:05:27 PM »
Hello - A couple of my pitangatubas are not doing well. Many of the leaves are getting reddish spots.  Here are a few photos:

The plants are in full sun, they get plenty of water. The problem seemed to begin after I fertilized them (used liquid VPG Fertilome). I'm wondering if maybe my soil blend is too dense - maybe waterlogged roots? I thought I was using a well draining soil blend - it's a bagged mix called "Menehune Magic".
I'm grateful for any your ideas about how to help my plants. - Jen

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Rambutan disease?
« on: November 04, 2018, 05:02:22 PM »
Hello - I am having a problem with my yellow rambutan - the leaves are turning a grayish tan and I’m worried that I will lose the tree. I suspect some sort of soil disease but am looking for inpyt. The mangosteen to the right also recently lost a leaf, but I think the browning on its leaves is from earlier sunburn.  Any ideas? Can my rambutan be saved with a fungicide or something else?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Rollinia deliciosa problem
« on: September 05, 2018, 12:24:11 AM »
My Rollinia deliciosa has a black spot that I am worried about.  I noticed it a few months ago and posted about it in a Facebook fruit group but there was a general lack of interest, so thought I’d try here. Is this a fungal disease?  There do not appear to be any insects around. The tree seems to be doing okay above the spot but is the spot likely to cause problems in the future? What do you think are my best steps to ensure that the tree will continue to grow and perhaps provide fruit one day? Thanks for any advice!
