Anyone out there that has fruited this one from Raul’s seeds?

I know this is a very old thread but i have seedlings of this and am interested to hear thoughts on how the fruit is. I have tried one fruit only and it was very unpleasant but it’s possible the timing was out

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Mango scion advice

I have happened upon some very special mango scions and am keen to graft them, but quite a few have signs of fungal growth. What’s the best approach to cleaning them up before grafting? Very mild bleach solution?

MikeT that Rambutan looks a lot like a lychee

Hi Gone Tropo, try Oz Rare Fruit group on Facebook. Plenty of collectors and a few sellers with extremely rare stuff

Cheers for the reply on air layering Peter. I have a solitary Durio Macrantha on D10 rootstock and I would like to delete the less cold tolerant D10 from the equation

Anyone know if durians readily air layer? I have one I’m thinking of trying it, but only will if the odds are on my side

Tropical Fruit Discussion / To cut Lychee flowers?

I have a young Erdon Lee Lychee which is flowering, the tree is too small to hold fruit. Has anyone had experience with cutting flowers when first appearing or waiting till small fruit set before cutting?

The leaves on my Luc’s certainly surprised me with their size

Hi Queenbee, sounds like the same mix up that confused me for a long time. They have somehow mixed up Coronata with Costada (understandable perhaps). It was a happy mistake for me as the Coronata (Not that they say which Coronata it is) take ages to fruit from seed and as you have discovered the Phitrantha Costada is extremely quick off the mark for a jabo. Enjoy

Appreciate hearing  your experience Peter. Mine (only have one) has been in the ground for a similar length of time to yours, slow as well but not in an ideal position, quite shaded. I’ll be moving in a year or so, and want to take it with me so really happy it marcotts ok. This marcott has a section grafted onto it from another tree so if they are dioecious at least I have some kind of chance for fruit

Anyone with Lemon Zest able to confirm if this looks like typical new growth?

The leaves do have a citrusy smell as well. It’s from LZ seed sent to a friend here in Australia, so I’m trying as best I can to confirm trueness to type

So Jack did you find it a late variety just compared to other avocados in your area? That is if you had something to compare it with

I believe the seed originally came from Raul, interested to hear anyone else’s growing experiences of this one

Nice to hear a little first hand feedback Jack, do you recall if it was early, mid or late season for you? I am trying to spread my harvest as long as possible

Thought some might find this interesting, I have one tree grown from seed of this Supposed dwarf, self-fertile Melicoccus oliviformis. Hopefully this air layering attempt works well as I have no other way to propagate it that I can think of, until it fruits of course.

Appreciate the feedback SW and FVF, my back up plan for the Luc’s is to marcott some largish branches on my Achacha, then graft onto them, I have had good results grafting Luc’s to Achacha. I will try digging up the jaboticabas in winter and give them a heavy trim

I’m wondering if anyone has experience with digging up garcinias to move to a different location. I have 2 Luc’s about 3’ tall and growing well but there is a strong possibility I may be moving in 12 months and I would like to take them if there’s a reasonable chance of survival.
I have a few jaboticabas as well about the same size which i am hoping will be somewhat easier
