Managed to grow quite a few of them. Got our first frost the other night, so grabbed them all off the vines this afternoon. Wondering if anyone had some suggestions as to what I ought to do with them. :)

They turn orange when ripe so maybe they frosted out too soon. Will probably taste like a seedy cucumber, which is not much different from a ripe one.

They go well mix scooped out and mixed with sugar. They have a great shelf life. I ate one after 8 months and it was still perfectly good.

Scoop out, mix in blender, use as salad dressing, or mix with other vegetable juices. Would be great with tomato juice, carrot juice, or others with strong taste like beets or celey. Whatever juice you can't use right away you can freeze for later use.

I've found them to be more ornamental than edible.

This season I grow Kiwano Rund, it looked very funny.

Thanks for the suggestions/ideas. :) I have tried the orange/ripe ones before, and you're right. These green ones are pretty cucumber-y inside.
Those round ones are pretty neat looking too.
I don't think I'll bother growing these again. And I didn't realize they had such a long shelf life...maybe they'd make for some nice White Elephant gifts during Christmas time. lol

How is the taste of Rund in comparison to the ordinary kiwano?
This season I grow Kiwano Rund, it looked very funny. Now I know that it is also growing in Russia.

I did not taste it. I was interested to grow it for decorating the fence.

Would you be having some seeds to spare or exchange? Thank you.

I just saw you were interested in growing dragon fruit. I can send you seeds of Hylocereus megalanthus if you are interested. Also, I think it's better to carry forward from here in private messages rather than hijack this topic :)
