« on: October 26, 2017, 12:31:11 PM »
This is my fourth year seeding Guava. Don't know which variety, but very tasty.
The plant got bigger this year and so as the fruits.

looks a bit like the Asian white i had.
nice large fruit.
mine was sweet, but custardy soft too.

im kinda surprised.
mine was in full sun. very full sun actually...

im glad to hear that though, since i am now , so many trees
everything will have to get some shade
good to know i should still get quality fruit.

if you cut out some of that growth in the center
it would  get more air and sun.

Thanks Greenman. I will trim some branches in the middle.

By the way, do the fruits look like ready to harvest yet?

Very nice. I find Guava is edible when the skin/flesh yields to pressure from your fingernail.

How did your trees make it through winter? Did you go with no roof this summer?

Love the shape of your guava. What does the inside look like?

i think thats what some call an "apple" guava.

and yes, i wait till its a bit soft
the skin starts to turn color, and you can smell it.
after you bite into a couple , you will know at what point is peak ripeness
without being over-ripe.
different varieties have different colors on the skin when they are ripe.
i have 1 that just turns light-green, and never gets yellow at all.
And i have another that has to be bright yellow before it is ripe.
