Tropical Fruit Discussion / ID Request n°2
« on: December 31, 2023, 01:37:18 AM »
Hello again Everyone, this one might be an endemic specie from New Caledonia but not sure as I just cannot find its ID. So any help identifying that specie is welcome. Here are some pictures to give you a better idea. Ripe fruits are small ( size of a small olive ) reddish, flesh is orange, not really juicy but more floury like a canistel inside. I did not taste it as I am not sure it is edible.

Hello Everyone, Any clue about the id of this eugenia ? It has been fruiting for the first time a few weeks ago, but just can't remember what it is. Ripe fruits are dark purple/black, similar but smaller than an eugenia brasiliensis. the bush/small tree is like 10 years old and looks like a jaboticaba but this is definitely an eugenia. Here are some pictures to give you a better idea. Any help welcome and thanks in advance !

New leaves are different. I really think this is a psidium, and acutangulum seems pretty right.

Thank you for your reply. From what I remember it was sold to me as a psidium but unfortunately checking out different sites and images on the internet I just cant identify it which is pretty frustrating. This is a very slow grower indeed and it is affected by the myrtaceae rust too. However it seems to take off now after 3 years in the ground.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Myrtaceae ID please
« on: June 15, 2023, 06:05:20 PM »
Hello everyone,

I brought this myrtaceae from the Philippines but unfortunately I just cannot remember what it is. I bought it at a fruit nursery near laguna and I thought it was a psidium specie, but I am not sure, may be more a syzygium ? Anyway, it is a fruit specie and a myrtaceae for sure so if someone can help me identifying it, that would be nice. Thanks in advance !

Hey vitiga,
Do you plant trees or are you just enjoying the fruits?
Maybe you want to swap some seeds, please have a look at my offering here for barter https://tropicalfruitforum.com/index.php?topic=45925.0
You are not "too" far away so could work out.

Can't speak french so haven't watched any videos.

Peace
hi cassowary, i have been planting and collecting fruit trees for the last 15 years here in new caledonia. I grow about 200 different fruit species plus many different varieties. I can trade seeds, although I have not been trading recently due to the covid stuation and the impossibility to send parcels to many different places. But now the situation seems to be okay again. please contact me via my fb page ( Sca le jardin aux mille fruits ) or email : lejardinauxmillefruits@gmail.com  as i don't check the forum regularly.

Another small anecdote: I was strenuously searching for a reliable source of Inga vulpina seeds for seven years. This clown responded that he had it, but not to share in any way or sell seeds. Just to gloat I guess.  ???
??? the clown as you said has never heard from you before. So you must confuse with someone else regarding those seeds. take it easy and good luck for your research.
