Great looking trees, Steven. Thanks for sharing. How tall are you by the way? Just trying to see how big that Cherimoya tree is
Wow great looking trees, and very fertile soil. The guava seedling that is white fleshed is called the "Apple Guava" it is from Thailand. I have one and it tastes awesome. Great guava flavor with a great mix of sweet and acid, without the heavy guava smell. Feed it some water soluble 20-20-20 fertilizer and she will flower soon. I can't believe that even on an isolated island you have to deal with leaf miners as is evident on your lemon tree. Thanks for sharing your picture.
Thats a beautiful plot of land excellent looking trees. Have you considered heavily pruning the large cherimoya that your grandmother planted in order to hopefully rejuvinate it and perhaps get it to produce better? The papaya on the ground looks yummy Simon
Very nice plants and soil is amazing! Did you leave that papaya on the ground?
Of course I love your yard and the fruit trees, and the ocean view ain't bad either. How warm is the water this time of the year?
Steven I am a keen fisherman for reef and estuary fish. The trigger for when to go to the reef chasing mackerel, coral trout, red emperor etc is the water cooling. For the brief window that the offshore sea temp drops to a chilly 80 f or less the fishing is best.Right now it is a brisk 79.7f and I should be out there to fill the freezer.
Thanks for all the compliments...really appreciate them The soil is rich...any thing I plant grows well. I really don't know the exact composition of the soil...Mike I think you are right ''basalt derived''Hopefully...I will take pics of the harvest...late in the season Best regards Steven
Jack,Beautiful pictures of the land, the photos really show your dedication and love for plants.
Sorry Jack, I get those two Portuguese colonies mixed up at any rate you truly live in Paradise and your trees are incredible.
I'm singing with the choir, jack - nice trees!!!!!!!!!!By the way, what kind of papaya is that - it looks like a Mexican, like the kind I have...?Go Madeira!!!!!!Fang
Hi Mangofang, The papaya is from tissue culture that I bought about 2 years ago. Don't know what variety it is...flavor is mild and not very sweet!
Amazing! Wonderful fruiting trees. I especially envy your mature Cherimoya tree. Your success is my inspiration. I hope to be there myself in a few years.John

Suggest planting against a cement wall for reflected heat if possible, and also using black plastic mulch to warm the soil in winter.
