has anyone fruited a durio in continetal USA? all the plants i know of died of phytophthera or cold damage.if no one has done it yet, we need to have a contest, where all people have an entry fee of $100, they all get the same batch of seedlings, and the winner (1st to fruition) takes all the $$.that would be a great contest!

We just had to start the seedlings all within the same year and keep a photo log. Where could we keep the money for the 15 or so years it may take?

I think the three most important factors to consider when trying to get a fruiting durian in Florida is variety, variety and variety.
Maybe there is a guy in Michigan who fruited durian? I was speechless when I saw this
8 durions fruited ( yes , in the past form ) a little further north ( 2 hours driving ) of Puerto Vallarta at sea-level close to San Blas , the land was sold and the new owners cut them down , afraid the falling fruit would hurt their children....
