Guys, I have another question. What land is better to use for dragonfruit? I make a mixture of cow compost and perlite, but a Brazilian farmer told me it was better to use coconut and sand. What are your opinions on this?

Heres the video where he shows how to tie off your vines so it doesnt need a top support.  Im going to use nylon rope.

5ft is a nice height.  You want to be able to easily reach over the top support to trim up the vines.
Brad, I have to keep my plants in the greenhouse during the cold season, if the height is above 5 feet, this will be a problem for me.

Thrn make it 4ft, it doesnt really matter that much.  Moving dragonfruit plants is a big pain though so plan accordingly.  They are heavy, sharp, awkward.  Not a fun plant to move around.
Unfortunately, there are no other methods to grow dragonfruit in Russia. Thank you for your advice, I will take this into account.

I would not risk doing this with my plants. It seems to me that drying out or rotting may occur at the bend points.

I'm no expert but I've seen different heights from really short to pretty tall. It probably comes down to preference and ease of harvesting and maintenance. Mine is around 4 1/2 or 5 feet tall, I'm going to be up potting some cuttings from last year and I plan on making the post maybe a foot shorter.
Thanks for your reply. I think 5 feet will be the best height. Maybe someone else will give advice.

Any reason the cuttings must come from Australia?
I searched for Ocamponis x coniflorus and found it only in Australia. I can buy from any person who can offer, but today I saw it only from the forum member Rannman

Hi guys, I'm looking for different types of nut plants. It can be not only cold-resistant species. But also those that can be grown in a pot, for example macadamia. I am also very interested in various varieties of edible acorns.

It looks reliable, but why not pick up a 4-inch plastic tube, fill it with your mixture and it will be more reliable.

To a great extent this group is about zone pushing. Amazing what you are able to grow and fruit in a greenhouse in Russia. Keep it up!  :D Maybe i missed it, but what part of Russia are you in?
Hi Oscar. I live in central Russia, 100 km south of Moscow.
What kind of heating system do you use? And do you have a back up system in case of power failure in first system?
To date, the greenhouse is not fully equipped with a heating system, so every autumn I have to transfer plants to the house. As heaters, I use household infrared panels, but they do not give the desired result, and therefore are only involved in the early spring and autumn.

In Russia, because of the cold climate, a lot is grown in pots. Citrus fruits, Annanna, Cocoa, Coffee, Longan, Jackfruit, Banana, Eugenia,Jaboticaba and much more. When creating certain conditions, you can achieve positive results from any plant.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Xanthoceras sorbifolium
« on: October 23, 2019, 03:45:51 AM »
Hi guys. I have many seeds of Xanthoceras sorbifolium. This is a very beautiful  tree with delicious nuts. Prefers well-drained and fertile soils. High groundwater and liquid stagnation does not tolerate. It grows poorly after transplantation, so it can only be done at a young age. Resistant to winters, cold transfer up to -30˚C. Confidently propagates independently through seeds.
I would like to make an exchange for your seeds if anyone is interested. Waiting for your suggestions.

You need a male and female vine to fruit. You better plant the remaining seeds, unless you are sure that the two which sprouted are one male and the other female!!!!
Chandramohan, I gave my friends two seeds each, they also grew, we will probably be able to exchange plants with them. I still have 16 pieces left, I see no reason to plant them all, it will take me a huge space.
