Fruiting T. cacao in South Florida
« on: March 02, 2021, 01:07:27 PM »
I know this is probably not that rare anymore but I finally managed to get my cacao to fruit.
I'm not really doing anything to protect it. Just planted it on the side of my house.

Would much prefer mangosteen but we'll see in a few more years

Thanks for the support everyone.

I was surprised how little care it took.
I planted this tree as a 7g in the summer of 2019.
It was flowering a year later.

Planted 3 other cacaos from 3-gallon trees a few months after in the same area. (All from tiny Etsy plants, they grow really fast)
I saw one of the smaller cacao trees had a few flowers late last year so I was hoping I'd get some fruit in 2022.

They are on the Northside of my house, side yard.
Considering this is one of the more intense winters we had in South Florida, Cacao should be pretty easy if you choose a nice spot.
