Cutting back Mango Tree

Hi all, will cutting back this tree to the line I drew kill it? And is now a good time to do so?
I’m trying to encourage horizontal branching. Thanks in advance!

I don't believe it would kill it. Mango trees are really tough. Yes, that's way too much trunk.

You could cut half the trunk then bend tree top down to ground.
Cut it off after trunk have shoots with big leaves.
