Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: What is this fruit?

On comment under the video they say it is called "Kavit" in Cambodia. I found this on net:

Seeds still available.

Regarding the germination of Marolo I got 2 separate recommendations. One is to cut the pointed part of the seed and other is to use a strong GA3... I will use both tips together.

Carlos

Here is exact concentration of GA3 for Marolo.
EMATER DE GOIÁS - Saiba como fazer mudas de araticum ou marolo
I sow seeds of Marolo few years ago, without GA it took 1 year to sprout, but germination is good, close to 100%, but the main problem with annona crassilfora is not sprouting, but keep them alive in my conditions, I lost them all, because of some fungus or what.

I got the whole fruit of inga striata from Helton, and it looked identical to AnnonaAdict fruit

554
Strange, I never had problems with Helton, I bought seeds several times.

It is well known fact that pomelo (citrus maxima) do not grow true to type from seed.

556
This coconut jack looks to me like mini jack from Indonesia called Nangka mini.
I read that Nangkadak is in fact cross of "Nangka mini" and cempedak.

Each year, we are flooded by chinese cv. Honey pomelo here. It is in fact very good sweet pomelo when properly ripe. This is the main pomelo in shops here, sometimes vietnamese pomelo, or israely Jaffa red pomelo hybrid (identical to US cv. Chandler), or Jaffa Sweetie hybrid (identical to US cv. Oroblanco)  appear, but they are not that good.

Citrus General Discussion / Re: 5-citrus tree
« on: April 17, 2014, 02:37:43 AM »
It really looks like this vietnamese gardener is grafting pieces of twigs with existing fruit to ends of branches to create some kind of absurd christmas tree. But standard coctail tree means  grafting of small twigs or buds to branches to create tree, where whole parts of crown are dedicated to concrete cultivar.
For example I have tree, where half of the crown is one cultivar and half another cultivar.

I think, that world record holds famous "friendship tree" in Sochi Subtropical Botanical Garden, this approx. 77 years old tree holds 635 grafts of different citrus cultivars.

Thank you. Can you comment on their taste? I'd prefer to get a sweet pomelo, if it is possible.

I  have never eaten it. I grafted it once, but graft failed. You can ask at Oscar Tintori Nursery in Pescia, they sale it, they also sale 2 local pomelo selections, pomelo "rosso di Ischia" and "rosso di Sarzana"

Also, i have heard that there are two different plants with this name. What kind of plant can i find in europe? I soppose not the one with the red pulp.

quite opposite, the pink fleshed pomelo is in European collections.
As you wrote there are 2 types.:
1 . original japan Hirado Buntan with pale greenish-yellow pulp
and
2. Florida selection of Hirado Buntan with pink flesh.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Citrus Sub Forum???
« on: April 14, 2014, 05:47:50 AM »
Although finger limes are technically citrus they don't look anything like citrus, and forum members show great enthusiasm for this species. It is only citrus many of us really exited about.  So, I hope finger lime discussion will remain on the main fruit board.
Me personally while enthusiastic about all fruit an nut species have zero interest in citrus. Also notice very few forum members grow citrus or discuss about it. For this reason hope citrus sub forum will move below everything else sub forum next to tropical vegetables.

Citrus growers forum has 3232 registered users, some are more active, some less, so if significant number of them come here, this citrus sub-forum will be pretty active.

Lot of nice posts about giant guanabana, but main question still unanswered - where I can buy seeds?  ;D ;D ;D

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: What so special About an avacado?
« on: April 13, 2014, 07:48:17 AM »
After the discussion about sense to eat avocado with fruitlovers I decide to give avocado a second chance  :) , I tried 2 cultivars available in local supermarket.
First one was Pinkerton - not for me,
second one -  in picture  - (I do not know the name, with light green skin)  -  very good.
Mixed together with processed cheese, it tastes like yogurt.

571
If there is a chance to sell some seeds to Europe in the future, let me know. I would like to buy some.
