Tropical Fruit Discussion / Fill soil for Mangoes?

We are decommissioning our koi pond and plan to fill in the large hole in our yard. Since we would like to place a mango in this spot in the near future, we want to be sure the soil we use to fill the spot is the best possible for mango trees. Any suggestions on what to use and where to find it in St Pete,FL. The hole is 8’ x 12’ wide and about 4-5’ deep so we need something affordable.

The mild winter with just a few short cold spells seems to have confused my mangos. My Nam Doc Mai and Pim Saen Mun are covered with decent sized mangos as well as a second large bloom.

My Pim Seng Mun has been struggling for a while. Tried copper and a couple of other fungicides without much luck. While pruning discovered brown spots in pith.


Any suggestions?

We continued out Mango Tasting tour through South Florida this last weekend. This time we hit the Gulf Coast and the town of Bokeelia on Pine Island. So far, Lemon Zest is out front by a mile. One caveat, though. They can be a bit chalky if not completely ripe.
