The leaves are different from the bael fruit I know. Also the branches should have thorns.

Nut in the picture looks like a macadamia nut

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: toxicity cherimoya seeds?

A dude told me once he blended up soursop flesh with the seeds in it and drank it and he was fine. I wouldn't do it intentionally but doesn't seem that dangerous. I'm assuming similar toxicity.

Can anyone provide information on Frank's garcinia? I got some seeds and I am trying to find out more about the fruit.

I have tried searching the posts with no luck; any info or pics of the plant and fruit would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jo

Are you talking about frank sekiya?

Update on the large tree I cut down to graft onto. I was advised to leave at least one branch or run the increased risk of the tree dying. I was concerned I may not get any new shoots lower down on the trunk ( I want to start the new tree as low as I can) and so Trina suggested ringbarking the tree around 50% of it’s diameter to stimulate new shoots below the cut.
As you can see it worked well!! … the lower pictures are from a couple of months ago just after I cut it.
We will have a go at cleft grafting onto several
If the new shoots soon
Cheers Jim

That is an interesting technique. Thanks for sharing.

annona?

No, Kadsura coccinea is not an Annona; it is neither in the genus Annona nor in the family Annonaceae. It is in the family Schisandraceae.

Right that's what I thought. I was confused about the title of the thread. Perhaps an old classification?

Here's an update on my top 5.

Durian
Dragonfruit
Banana
Mango
Cherimoya

Mango is down from last time due to convenience when eating and discovery of good dragonfruit. Still have a lot of annonas and myrtaceae to try.
Banana and dragonfruit.  Really?  Please explain.  I've yet to taste a great dragonfruit.  Even "tuna" (opuntia or prickly pear) seems better to me.  Bananas are so common, and even the best ones are merely a step up from the ordinary.  (Mango, yes.  Cherimoya, yes.  Haven't tried durian so far.)

Banana isn't super exciting to eat, but neither is french fries. It's just a very satiating fruit to eat and very convenient as well. When I was thinking about what I should put on the list, my thought process was what fruit would I actually go out of my way to consume and how often. I eat bananas all the time for breakfast. I don't eat the other common supermarket fruits very often.

A lot of dragonfruit is bland and sometimes has a soapy flavor. I do not like those dragonfruits. When it is sweet without soapy flavor its fantastic. It's also fairly convenient.

Also common theme for my favorite fruits is that they are on the soft side. That's just my personal preference.

From the sugar apples I've seen the leaves go yellow to brown when going dormant. This looks different to me.
