Pink Longan
« on: March 09, 2019, 04:38:47 PM »
I recently bought a small grafted pink Longan and I was wondering if someone in here tried the fruit before ?.

Here is an article about it ( in Thai language).

Search for " ลำไยเถาผลสีชมพู " if you would like to learn more about this variety.

Seen in the market before but also just simply known as Lamyai Daeng, Red Longon.

Read was somewhat fickle to weather more suited to higher from the equator.  I’m down in NST near the equator and weather is never cool, except for the brief windchill that comes from rain and heavy wind.

Have you tried them ?.

From what I understand about this cultivar, the branches are supposed to be more brittle than the normal Longan. Also, it grows to be more bushy or vine-like than the normal Longan, according to some Thai websites.

Will see in a couple of years.

Thanks
